The students of BS Chemistry 5th and 7th semester of Government Girls Postgraduate College, Quetta Cantt visited CASVAB, University of Balochistan Quetta, today as part of an academic study tour. The visit was arranged to provide students with practical exposure to modern laboratory techniques and to strengthen their understanding of biochemical and molecular biology procedures.

During the visit, a practical demonstration on the separation of proteins through SDS-PAGE was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Irfan Sheikh and Dr. Zahid Mustafa. The students were briefed about the principle, procedure, and applications of SDS-PAGE, including protein denaturation, gel preparation, sample loading, electrophoresis, and visualization of protein bands.In addition to SDS-PAGE, the students were also briefed about the working and applications of the UV-Vis 

spectrophotometer, autoclave, and serum biochemistry. They learned how the UV-Vis spectrophotometer is used for absorbance and concentration measurements, how the autoclave is used for sterilization, and how serum biochemistry is important in clinical and diagnostic analysis. Overall, the visit was highly informative and provided the students with valuable practical knowledge related to chemistry, biochemistry, and molecular biology.
