A Landmark Day for Government Girls Postgraduate College Quetta Cantt

On September 30, 2025, Government Girls Postgraduate College Quetta Cantt celebrated a momentous occasion – the topping-out ceremony of the Shaheed Nazima Talib Academic Block and the inauguration of a state-of-the-art Smart Auditorium. The event was honored by the presence of Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfaraz Ahmed Khan Bugti , as the chief guest, alongside Guest of Honour Ms. Rahila Hameed Khan Durrani, Minister of Education Balochistan.

The ceremony was further distinguished by the attendance of Mr. Saleem Khosa, Minister C&W; Mr. Sadiq Umrani, Minister Irrigation; and Mr. Ali Madad Jatak, MPA Balochistan Assembly.
Adding significance to the occasion, former Secretary of Colleges and Higher Education Balochistan, Mr. Hafiz Muhammad Tahir, graced the event with his presence. The current Secretary of Colleges and Higher Education, Mr. Saleh Muhammad Baloch , and the Director, Prof. Muhammad Hussain Baloch , were also among the distinguished dignitaries. The collective commitment to education was further demonstrated by the attendance of principals from various girls’ and boys’ colleges across the region.

In a powerful address, Chief Minister Balochistan delivered a clear message to the terrorists and rivals of education, declaring that “we will never surrender to them and will stand straight to defend our motherland Pakistan.” He commended the exceptional efforts of Principal Prof. Sadia Farooqi and her staff, presenting cash prizes to the compères and performers. The Chief Minister announced significant initiatives including laptops and internet facilities for the college, directed the accelerated completion of the Shaheed Nazima Talib Academic Block by the end of 2026, and granted a one-year service extension to Principal Prof. Sadia Farooqi in recognition of her outstanding performance.

Madam Minister Ms Rahila Hameed Khan Durrani congratulated Principal Prof. Sadia Farooq i and appreciated the college’s efforts. In her response, the Principal expressed profound gratitude to the Chief Minister and all dignitaries for their solidarity and presence despite recent security challenges, noting that this demonstrated their unwavering commitment to the daughters of Balochistan.

The ceremony concluded with a souvenir presentation and refreshments. Principal Prof. Sadia Farooq i extended her appreciation to all staff, students, and clerical and fourth-grade staff, emphasizing that the achievement was a collective team effort. The event stood as a powerful testament to the resilience of educational spirit in the face of adversity. Once again, Government Girls Postgraduate College Quetta Cantt reaffirmed its position as the mother institute and cradle of education in Balochistan.
