Greening the Campus: Government Girls Post Graduate College Quetta Cantt Sets an Example in Environmental Stewardship

Greening the Campus: Government Girls Post Graduate College Quetta Cantt Sets an Example in Environmental Stewardship Under the leadership of Principal Madam Sadia Farooqi, the college launched a successful gardening and plantation drive to enhance campus beauty and sustainability. The initiative, supervised by Mrs. Aliya Bano (Head of Botany) and Ms. Amna Khajjak (Assistant Professor & In-Charge of Gardening), transformed the campus into a lush, vibrant space. Ms. Amna Khajjak’s husband, Mr. Ghulam Mustafa, Director of Agriculture, supported the effort by providing thousands of plants and seeds, including olives, figs, vinca, zinnia, roses, and more. Today, greenery flourishes across the BS Block, Auditorium, Science Departments, Library, and along the arterial road, creating a serene and eco-friendly environment, all due to the ceaseless efforts of Ms. Amna Khajjak and Mr. Ghulam Mustafa, who worked around the clock and used their personal transport vehicle to bring the necessary supplies of plants and pots to the campus.

Our seasonal collections include:

  • Summer Collection: Petunia, Portulaca, Goldmerry, Dimur, Zinnia, Thok, Tuberose, Ligustrum, and Baby Roses
  • Winter Collection: Gul-e-Dawoodi (Chrysanthemum), Gladia, Corn Flower, Alsi, and Calendula.

The Principal appreciated Ms. Amna Khajjak and her husband, whose efforts maintain the campus’s beauty year-round. The greening project exemplifies the college’s commitment to a clean, green, and inspiring learning environment.
