A Historic Triumph: Girls Postgraduate College Quetta Cantt Celebrates a Triple Milestone
In a landmark event on August 23, 2025, the Government Girls Postgraduate College Quetta Cantt, the mother institute and a cradle of education in Balochistan, celebrated a historic day by achieving three significant milestones, marking its bold entry into a new digital and sustainable era.
The ceremony was graced by the Honourable Ms. Rahila Hameed Khan Durrani, Minister of Education, Balochistan, as the Chief Guest. The event was also attended by Prof. Muhammad Hussain Baloch, Director of Colleges and Higher Education, Prof. Saeeda Niaz, Joint Director of Colleges and Higher Education, and principals from various male and female colleges across the city.
The triple-celebration encompassed:
1. Science and Arts Exhibition 2025:
An impressive exhibition was held in the college’s digital library,featuring innovative projects, models, and artworks across 25 disciplines from both the Science and Arts faculties. A distinguished panel of seven judges from three prestigious universities of Balochistan, including the University of Balochistan, SBK Women University, and BUITMS Quetta, evaluated the entries, which were divided into three categories per faculty. The Honourable Minister distributed certificates and cash prizes to the winning students, commending their creativity and hard work.
2. Inauguration of a State-of-the-Art Solar Panel System:
A transformative green energy project worth 13 million rupees,funded entirely from the personal funds of the Education Minister, Ms. Rahila Hameed Khan Durrani was officially inaugurated. This extensive solar panel system will power the administration block, smart auditorium, staff room, 19 classrooms, and the cafeteria, ensuring sustainable and uninterrupted power for education.
3. Launch of the Official College Website:
A Leap to the Cloud Marking a first in the history of Balochistan’s government colleges,the institution proudly launched its official website. This digital leap signifies the college’s transition “from campus to cloud,” making information accessible globally. The smart digital inauguration was performed by the Chief Guest Ms Rahila Hameed Khan Durrani.
Ms. Wania Tahir then briefed the audience on the website’s features and development journey.

In her address, Minister Rahila Hameed Khan Durrani highly appreciated the series of efforts and remarkable achievements led by Prof. Sadia Farooqi, Principal of the college. She encouraged the students to continue striving for excellence and congratulated the entire college team for stepping confidently into the digital era. Later, Madam Minister presented souvenirs to Judges, Guests of Honour, and to Prof Sadia Farooqi, Principal GGPGC Quetta Cantt.
Principal Prof. Sadia Farooqi thanked the minister for her unwavering and generous support. She presented a token of gratitude to Ms Rahila Hameed Khan Durrani, Minister of Education Balochistan. Prof. Sadia Farooqi motivated the students to maintain their high standards and work towards making the college the best in the region. Madam Principal extended her gratitude to vice Principals Prof Dr Humera Sadozai and Prof Razia M. Shahi.
She appreciated the efforts of exhibition organisers Prof. Shabana Wali and Prof. Maryam Mehbob and their teams.
